Late last year, I scrambled to put together a list of my favorite songs released during 2012, not just to have a handy playlist of songs I love, but to remind myself that I should keep track of this stuff starting at the beginning of 2013. Today, I added the first song to that playlist, which may very well turn out to be my favorite song of the year (unless 2013 has some seriously good music waiting for me). It's Ra Ra Riot's "Beta Love," the title track off the band's latest release, out today on Barsuk Records.
It's two minutes and 56 seconds of pure delight. A dance-y little number reminiscent of everything I used to love about Passion Pit. But the violin and and Wes Miles' unmistakeable vocals are undeniably Ra Ra Riot. This track is so great, check it out:
