Tickets go on sale Friday (March 1) for a just-announced June 20 concert by David Byrne and St. Vincent at the Shubert in New Haven. The pair is still touring behind their album Love This Giant. The Shubert, the nearly 100-year-old "birthplace of America's hits" at 247 College Street, will be one of the earlier stops on the two-month tour, which begins June 11 in New Jersey. The act consists of Byrne, St .Vincent (aka vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark) and a whole lot of brass players. If you want a taste of what Byrne and Vincent are like live, their appearance on David Letterman's show will be rerun March 6. But anybody who's seen Byrne at almost any time in his long career, right back to when Talking Heads started getting out of clubs and into larger and nicer venues circa the Fear of Music album, knows that smallish theaters are a natural venue for him. The Shubert is ideal for this show, which is being co-presented by Premier Concerts and Manic Productions. Tix are $58, $68 and $78 plus service charges, and are available starting at10 a.m. Friday from www.shubert.com or (800) 228-6622.
