Fashion finds a home in Connecticut.

Fashion finds a home in Connecticut.

Ever wish the small state of Connecticut had a stronger presence in the world of fashion?  Soon cities across Connecticut including New Haven, Milford and Hartford, will be filled with fashion for the Official CT Fashion Week 2012 kicking off next week.  Beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony in New Haven, the week-long event will feature work from international, national and local established and aspiring fashion designers and industry members.

“It's about the community," says Stephanie DiMaggio, vice president of the event.  "There’s events for children, aspiring models, working models, something for everyone.  There's a lot of talent in CT that needs to be recognized."

Contests, workshops and shows, including a Disney-themed fashion show for children, will also be held throughout the week creating a safe and welcoming environment where the public can acquire real fashion information, advice and networking opportunities from industry professionals.

“We want it to be about talent and show the cultural diversity of our community,” says Diamond Tree, Creative Director, board member, and designer for the event.  “This will be something people will look forward to each year.”

Before the event, the CT Fashion Week Team participated in a number of community events with the hopes of raising awareness about the event, garnering support from local and national businesses, and giving back to community that fostered its vision.
