Colombian Sausage and Chicharron at La Fonda
If you're a fan of sausage, you pretty much need to plan a trip to Franklin Avenue. The Colombian-style sausage at La Fonda is some of the tastiest and most interesting around. With intense flavors of cumin, these plump links make for excellent drinking food. If sausage isn't your thing, La Fonda also serves some of the most satisfying (and visually imposing) chicharron (deep-fried pork belly). Many of the platters at La Fonda come with sides of chicharron, which look a little like gnarly hunks of slab bacon cut into notches. There's a lot of piggy flavor in this stuff.
