Opera Comique opens this Thursday at the Sherman Playhouse and tickets are just $10 on opening night, half the usual price. It's a comedic farce that takes place at the 1875 premiere of Georges Bizet's Carmen in Paris, in a theater that's not quite up the standards of the grand Paris Opera. As a result, confusion takes hold with mistaken identities, tangled relationships, infidelity and murder. The funny kind of murder, that is.
The Sherman Playhouse, 5 Routes 39 North, Sherman. July 13-Aug. 4. Fri.-Sat., 8 p.m. Sun., July 22, 2 p.m. $20. $10 on Thu., July 12. (860) 354-3622, shermanplayers.org.
