"A man named Shykwon Supreme Sunchild was doing the kind of thing you would expect a man named Shykwon Supreme Sunchild to be doing when he apparently climbed on top of a Dollar Store in New Haven and attempted to break in via a roof hatch..."
Can someone explain how this is an acceptable, and not outrageously prejudiced, comment? We can all agree that the name 'Shykwon' locates the person referenced as probably African-American. If the person referenced was named 'Butterfly Supreme Sunchild' or 'Bob Supreme Sunchild' would the same joke "work", or have been made? We know the answer: no.
I'm stunned I read this in print.
