A 36-year-old Branford man was arrested after attacking a 58-year-old former police officer that was admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital in serious condition, according to a March 12 article in the Hartford Courant. The victim states that the suspect is a family friend.
Police charged the suspect with first-degree assault. He is being held on $500,000 bail. The victim went to the suspect's house to help fix a garage door. The suspect allegedly hit him several times with a blunt object.
The Situation is Well in Hand
A March 13 New Britain Herald article reports that a staff member at a middle school in New Britain was arrested in Vernon by police on March 12 for allegedly walking around naked from the waist down. The suspect, a media specialist at Roosevelt School, was charged with public indecency and breach of peace.
A woman walking near the Lake Street School allegedly saw the suspect, a 31-year-old Manchester man, walking on Lake Street half-naked and committing a sex act. She got his license number and called police after he entered his vehicle.
He was released after posting $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 22.
Brawl in the Family
A March 13 article in the Hartford Courant states that Hartford police arrested 12 people following a massive brawl that broke out that afternoon on Birch Street in the wake of a family dispute. The suspects, which included two juveniles, were charged with inciting a riot, breach of peace and interfering with police. There no serious injuries, according to police.
