1st) Fashionista Vintage & Variety
If you’re looking for a truly unique shopping experience, look no further than Fashionista. Co-owners Todd Lyon and Nancy Shea started the store six years ago as a tag sale on State Street, springing up whenever they could find the time and space. Ever since they moved into their brick-and-mortar store downtown, business has boomed. It features vintage items individually hand-picked from a variety of sources and priced on old luggage tags, with one-on-one fashion guidance and, as they like to put it, “outfit matchmaking” services. And don’t expect to leave with a bag; Lyon and Shea wrap up every purchase personally into a one-of-a-kind bundle. Fashionista also offers clothing rentals, costuming services for theme parties and private parties with themes and fashion games like dress-up karaoke. “We run an orphanage for clothing,” Lyon says, “finding a love match, getting people to adopt our clothes and live happily ever after.”
