1st) Dava Boutique
"Dava has been in business for 30 years and owner Coleen Campbell couldn't be more pleased. The boutique has been at its Hamden location for 20 years now, and Campbell attributes the store's longevity to “my staff, my product and customer service.” Besides clothing and jewelry, Dava carries cat accessories, bath and body, local pottery and more. (At one point, the store even sold futons.) Many of the goods are by local artists or artisans; even more are fair trade. Dava also supports a number of charities — from taking care of area strays in back of the store, to walking in the National Multiple Sclerosis walk to donating 20 percent of their Earth Day sales to the Connecticut Fund for the Environment. They also host “wellness days,” in which a naturopath or other wellness practicioner visits the store and meets with customers. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the store is offering 30 percent off all merchandise on the 30th day of each month for the duration of the year. Be sure to check out the scrapbook of the last 30 years proudly on display near the register — Dava's had the best of every style for the last three decades."
