Tucked away on State Street, behind a brownstone, next to a church, lies New Haven's best patio. Situated to the rear of L'Orcio's warmly lit dining room is a courtyard covered in arbor and dripping with purple-and-white Chinese wisteria. Owner Alison DeRenzi says that the patio provides a “nice break from urban grind.” And the romantic setting has seen its fair share of proposals, weddings, and — of course — long, leisurely, Italian dinners. L'Orcio's patio is open from April to October. Reservations recommended.
