Occupation: Community Supported Agriculture Coordinator/Farm Manager at Beckett Farms
Found at: a hootenanny in Glastonbury
What's the biggest adventure you've had in recent memory?
I went to Argentina with a friend for a month and a half. We were there when Buenos Aires flooded. The water was past our waists. My camera died. I brought it back to life. We got lost and then found our way around. In the middle of the mountains we found a Swiss village.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I really like working with the sheep. I like getting to know my customers well and knowing there are common interests between us.
Dumbest thing you've done?
I thought I could make a business out of milking sheep. I thought I could get a few gallons a day and I have yet to get one gallon.
What's most challenging about your work?
Communication. Since I work with my dad, our relationship is basically a work relationship now. And Spanish. Most of the employees speak Spanish.
What else would you like to be doing?
I'm interested in historic preservation, smart growth, supportive housing...basically, community building. I want to move two old barns onto the property and turn one into a cafe and another into a co-op.
Best use for a rainy day?
Going to a hootenanny!
