Here are some rehearsal photos from the new comedy January Joiner, which the Long Wharf Theater is world-premiering in guess-what-month? The show begins previews January 9, has its opening night on Jan. 16, and continues through Feb. 10. The self-described “weight loss horror comedy” is by Laura Jacqmin, a Yale grad whose other recent Connecticut theater connection is that another of her plays, Two Lakes Two Rivers, was workshopped this past summer at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford.
January Joiner’s directed by Long Wharf Assocate Artistic Director Eric Ting, whose recent work for the theater includes the live radio production of It’s a Wonderful Life and his own adaptation of Macbeth.
The cast includes Ashlie Atkinson, Anthony Bowden, Tonya Glanz, Meredith Holzman (a Yale alum, class of 2001), Maria-Christina Oliveras and Daniel Stewart Sherman. Some of the roles include weight clinic clients, personal trainers, a woman named “Terry,” a woman named “Not-Terry,” a talking vending machine and the “Holy-Shit-Ghost.”
These photos were taken by Long Wharf staffer Peter Chenot.
