Les Miserables

Les Miserables by Cameron Mackintosh, opening night November 28 2010 (Deen van Meer photo)

For the 25th anniversary of the Boublil and Schönberg's venerable Les Miz, a musical adaptation ofVictor Hugo's 1862 classic of French literature that follows several characters in the years leading up to the 1832 June Rebellion, producer Cameron Mackintosh headed back to Hugo's own paintings for inspiration. Judging by the reviews, so far, it seems to have worked. The show wraps on Sunday.

Les Misérables, through March 11, $22-$100, The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Ave., Hartford, (888) 824-2874, bushnell.org.
