There is about to be an outbreak of high-quality theater in Fairfield County, the likes of which descends upon the region every fall as students return to schools, temperatures cool down and the new theatrical seasons rev up. But for now, we're still in the dog days of summer and most actors are busy prepping for their autumnal roles and sweating it out. Just this once, we're going to send you to New Haven to catch some free Shakespeare at scenic Edgerton Park. The show is Julius Ceaser, and this version takes place during Civil War in Rome, in the modern day.
Edgerton Park, 75 Cliff St., New Haven. Tue.-Sun., 8 p.m. Through Sept. 1. (203) 946-8009. Free, suggested donation. Edgerton elmshakespeare.org.
