The Music Man was a big hit on Broadway in 1957, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It takes place in Iowa in 1912, when a charming con man starts a boys band despite having any musical abilities. The uptight town librarian is the only one wise to his scheme. The songs that emerge as the tale unfolds include "76 Trombones", "Trouble" and "Till There Was You," which was covered by none less than the Beatles (McCartney has always loved the schmaltz). The Bridgeport Theatre Company's production enters its final weekend, featuring an entire chorus of local children.
