Playwright A.R. Gurney grew up in Buffalo, New York in the 1940s and, what a coincidence, that's exactly where his play Ancestral Voices is placed. Young Eddie's world is thrown into chaos when his grandmother divorces his grandfather to be with his grandfather's best friend. Ouch. And then, you know, the war happened. Gurney prefers the play to be performed informally, with actors reading from scripts, so that's how you'll see it at the Music Theatre of Connecticut's MainStage beginning this Friday.
