Stoli Doli found at Capital Grille
230 Tresser Boulevard, Stamford
Ingredients: Stoli vodka, Dole pineapples
'Tis the age of reason; 'tis the age of mixology. Well, the first part is debatable, but it's pretty much a given that, all over Connecticut, complex flavored martinis are flourishing like wildflowers in the summer. But sometimes you just have to play it cool and go against the vibe. And the Soli Doli does just that. It doesn't get much more elementarily simplistic than a martini with just two standout ingredients: fresh Dole pineapples and Stoli vodka.
The vodka infusion method is still satisfyingly masterful. First, many pineapples are prepped in two inch rings (anyone who has taken a pineapple apart can appreciate the length of time involved in such an endeavor). Next, seven to ten days pass quietly while the pineapple gets nice and drunk. Finally, the vodka is strained through a chinoiserie cloth and ready for consumption.
The finished beverage is shaken over ice and served both frothy and ice cold. Not too syrupy or sweet, and with no perceivable alcohol taste, the subtlety of belies the simplicity of ingredients. Which is both a delightful and dangerous thing, considering this martini is 100% vodka. Enjoy the next time you're in Stamford.
