Ingredients: Don Q Cristal Rum, Homemade blueberry simple syrup, fresh lime juice, lemon bitters, splash of soda, garnished with three blueberries and a mint spring.
This mojito is dressed to impress. Ok, so it’s actually shaken to impress – with mint leaves which are plucked fresh daily and then strained out of the finished cocktail for a flirtatiously clean drink which maintains the signature flavor of its messier cousins. Bartender Sarah was prepping the mint at the time of this post in an overture to its fresh flavor. The premium treatment pays off with a visual cocktail which, head bartender Jason notes, “gets the brain going,” followed by the olfactory treat of a fresh waft of the mint oil at the top of the cocktail. The flavor profile carries a prominent punch of blueberry followed by a nice and not overwhelming aftertaste of mint. Neither the mint nor the blueberry overpowers the rum, which is of a high enough caliber to have a pleasing caramel taste all of its own. Recommendation: take a Blueberry Mojito out to the Max Burger patio with a shrimp burger for company for a true taste of summer.
