Soundgarden's latest album, King Animal, wasn't disappointing. Far from it, actually; the odd-meter hiccup of "Black Saturday," or "Been Away Too Long," the opening track, are downright memorable and should gel nicely with the band's classics when they reach the Oakdale in Wallingford this Friday. The show is part of the second leg of Soundgarden's U.S. tour, hitting right before they (and everyone else) do the summer festival circuit rounds. They're still a great rock and roll band, and their musical powers haven't diminished. So head out and party like it's 1995.
