About eight years ago, singer/songwriter Amy Helm (pictured) — the daughter of the Band's legendary singer/drummer Levon Helm (who passed away last year) and singer/songwriter Libby Titus Fagen — was blowing minds, gently, with folk-rock ensemble Ollabelle at the Newport Folk Festival. She still plays and records with Ollabelle (as well as Levon's Midnight Ramble Band and Dirt Farmer Band), but she's also doing her own thing. She's set to release a solo record this year, which will surely find favor with fans of Mavis Staples and Emmy Lou Harris and the NPR crowd. Catch her live at Infinity Hall on Friday; Kerri Powers opens.
