Willy Moon (COURTESY MANIC PRODUCTIONS / February 11, 2013) |
You may have heard the music of New Zealand-born retro musician Willy Moon (pictured) in an iPod commercial a while back. The 21-year-old mixes '50s rock and roll with contemporary hip-hop — which could be a disaster, if done wrong. Jack White thought highly enough of the hybrid to release Moon's single, "Railroad Track," on his homegrown label Third Man Records last summer. His self-titled EP gathers four tracks, including the instantly catchy "Yeah Yeah." Catch Moon at Arch Street Tavern in Hartford on Tuesday. Move Out West and Universal Remote open the show.
