Mystic Bowie performs at least one fundraiser a year for his Jamaican organization, the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center. He'll spend the entire month of November down there doing construction on his library, in fact. But this Saturday he'll be doing a benefit for a cause closer to home: the Sono Life Center. "Upstairs of the building will be small apartments for the homeless, and a treatment, rehab facility," says Bowie. "Downstairs they want to do more like a training area. An industrial-sized laundromat, and stuff like that where we can put these people to work, retrain them to work." The event is called A Festival for Hope, and in addition to Bowie's show, there will be performances by B-Tropical, Renard Boissiere, Steve Clarke and Gordon Thurber. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for a video for the club remix of Bowie's song "Never Kiss and Tell."
