Earning a Grammy Award is a lot like getting knighted. It affects the way your name is printed for the rest of time. When Elton John got knighted, everyone started calling him Sir Elton John, for example. Well, local Latin jazz hero Dave Samuels will forever be known as Grammy Award-winning Dave Samuels, along with his group the Caribbean Jazz Project following their win for Best Latin Jazz Album almost a decade ago. Samuels is a vibraphone and marimba specialist, and he'll be strutting his stuff for free at Westport's outdoor hotspot, the Levitt Pavilion this Sunday night.
