Local Jamaican reggae singer Mystic Bowie has had a great deal of success in his musical career (both solo and with the Tom Tom Club), and he sure knows how to pay it forward. Bowie, a descendant of the Maroon Tribe in Jamaica, has established the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center, dedicated to providing needy Jamaican children with education in music, drama and sports. He'll be playing a show in Ridgefield Friday night to raise funds for the organization, with positive vibes, danceable rhythms and an inspiring smile that never seems to go away.
The Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge, Ridgefield. Fri., June 29, 7 p.m. (203) ridgefieldplayhouse.org, mysticbowieculturalcenter.com.
