Bill Evans' Soulgrass at StageOne in Fairfield on June 29
Saxophonist Bill Evans joined Miles Davis' band in the early 1980s when he was just 22 years old, and stuck around long enough to record on several albums with him. Since then Evans has collaborated with folks like Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson, Bela Fleck, Ian Anderson and the Allman Brothers. He's a fusion guy, blending jazz and funk in a virtuosic way. He'll be at Vibes in a few weeks, but see him up close at StageOne this Saturday with a band that includes Andy Hess from Govt Mule and the Black Crowes and Cyrus Madan from Deep Banana Blackout.
