The Last Bison Performs at StageOne in Fairfield on Friday
With a lot of these neo-folk bands on the circuit today, the guys put on vests or suspenders and the girls wear "Little House on the Prairie" dresses. They all pick up some banjos and whatnot and really dig in, in a not-very-traditional-folky, aggressive way. The Last Bison, from Chesapeake, Virginia is one such band. They'll be playing at the Newport Folk Festival in July, but they're coming to Fairfield now. They use traditional folk instruments and classical strings to achieve their indie-rock-via-mountaintop post-Mumford (po-Mum) sound.
