2 Tone giants the English Beat have developed a rather unexpected stronghold in Fairfield over the past couple of years. They return to StageOne again this Saturday, but this time the show has been sold out well in advance. The Beat (as they are known in England) were one of the first bands to mash ska and punk together in the late 1970s and early '80s. Instead of learning about ska and reggae from washed up third wave skacore bands or newcomer groups trying to jump start the fourth wave, kids can revisit the glorious second wave firsthand — as long as they've got $50 and the foresight to buy tickets well in advance.
