When American Graffiti was released, the early '60s had only occurred a decade earlier. Now the movie itself is four decades old. See the classic 1973 comedy about being a teenager in the early days of rock 'n' roll on the big screen this Wednesday at the Avon Theatre. It features stellar performances from the likes of Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss and Wolfman Jack. Before the film, head over to Lucky's Classic Burger & Malt Shop where there's going to be a costume contest with prizes for the best early '60s attire.
Avon Theatre Film Center, 272 Bedford St., Stamford. (203) 967-3660. Wed., Aug. 21, 7:30 p.m. $10-$15. Costume Contest at Lucky's Classic Burger & Malt Shop starts at 6 p.m. avontheatre.org
