Renata Adler has won renown during her years as a staff writer for The New Yorker and film critic for the New York Times. Though her political and arts criticism has been deeply divisive at times, she remains a powerful force in the literary world. Adler's forays into short- and long-form fiction have also garnered her intense praise, influencing both her contemporaries and authors such as David Foster Wallace. Her speaking engagements coincide with the recent reprinting of her novels Speedboat and Pitch Dark by New York Review Books.
Adler appears at R.J. Julia Booksellers on April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is free, and you can reserve a seat by clicking right here.
