Is there ever a bad time to do a shot?
I really don't think so, unless you have to go to work.
Do you consider yourself a mixologist?
Yes. I am influenced by tropical fruits and spend time mostly with rums and liquors. I don't like to make drinks fast, I enjoy taking my time with them and I find customers appreciate that. I like and would like everyone to feel like they are on vacation when they are here, drinking my cocktails.
What's the bar scene like in downtown Hartford?
It used to be really boring but it's changed. There is a lot more variety with restaurants, bars and lounges. Happy hours and weekends on Pratt Street are fun because everyone walks up and down this street and it's safe. There are not a lot of young people, it's more business casual.
What's the best drink to order during happy hour?
A Caipirinha, it's very refreshing and it's great to end the work day or a stressful week with something sweet and refreshing. This drink makes people happy. It's made with Cachaca and it comes in different flavors (we use fresh fruit) like mango, kiwi, strawberry, blackberry banana and watermelon. A Caipirinha is definitely better than a beer during happy hour.
