What qualities do you think a successful bartender should have?
Anyone can learn how to make a drink but to be THAT bartender that people want to come in and see and have a good conversation with, that is the most important quality a successful bartender should have.
Of the different types of establishments you have worked at, which style was your favorite?
It's a tie between a bar that has great live music and a bar that features craft cocktailing. I say that because I love the energy that live music bring and I love a bar that lets me get creative with cocktails.
What's the etiquette of tipping?
Always twenty percent if there is a tab, but if you come in and have a drink or beer and pay as you go then it would be $1.
Have you ever had any stalkers?
Yes; there was a customer from my former job who came in every Monday for several months by himself and ordered a burger and a coke. After my shift one night I found a note on the windshield of my car asking me to go for coffee. The note was signed with his burger and coke order. When he came in the following week I pretended like I never got the note and acted like I drove a different car. He never mentioned anything to me about it and eventually stopped showing up on Mondays.
