When Hurricane Sandy battered the Connecticut shoreline, it left many small businesses in the state bruised as well. Enter SCORE, a nonprofit dedicated to helping businesses get back on their feet. The organization, composed of volunteer mentors, holds seminars and provides one-on-one counseling to business owners. SCORE will send a group of representatives to New Haven as part of a targeted program aimed at rebuilding businesses in areas ravaged by Sandy. Notably, SCORE's volunteer mentors have been affected by natural disasters, so they know where much of waterlogged CT is coming from. Visit newhaven.score.org/localworkshops to register.
