There are only so many summer days that can be spent lounging by the pool or basking at the beach. Grown weary of conventional summer activities and still want to relax in the outdoors? Grab a lunch, slip on your water shoes and join the Connecticut Audubon Society with guided canoe tours of the Charles Wheeler Salt Marsh at Milford Point through October. Spend the day learning basic canoeing techniques from a trained instructor and see Connecticut's flourishing wildlife (including the marsh's three new Osprey chicks) while learning about the history and vitality of one of Connecticut's most intriguing ecosystems. Canoe tours take place Aug. 4, noon-2:30 p.m.; Aug. 5, 12:45-3 p.m.; Aug. 18, 10:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.; Aug. 19, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and various dates through September and October. Cost: $25 members, $35 nonmembers; $65 canoe (3 people) for members, $95 canoe for nonmembers. Private canoe/kayak: $19 members, $29 non-members.
