New London celebrates its light house heritage at the Custom House Maritime Museum on Saturdays this summer with Sentinels on the Sound – Lighthouse Saturdays. A variety of activities span 10 Saturdays, July 6-Sept. 7, at the museum and New London's waterfront. The activities include five-hour boat trips to Harbor Light and around New London Harbor from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. ($35; $25 for members) on July 6 and July 20; lighthouse lectures at 5 p.m. on July 27, Aug. 24 and Sept. 7; live performances by the U.S. Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band at Waterfront Park (1 Water St., 860-443-3786) at 3 p.m. on July 6 and Aug. 3; two-hour boat trils to Ledge Light at 4 p.m. on July 20, Aug. 17 and Sept. 7 (reservations required: 860-445-9007); Todd Gipstein book signing on July 20 at 1 p.m.; multi-media concert presentation From the Shoreline by musician and photographer John Mock at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3; and Nimble Arts Circus performs at 4 and 6:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park on Aug. 10, with a Juggling Workshop at 2 p.m. A special Lighthouse Fever stamp will be issued on July 13, featuring New London Harbor Light, with a ceremony at 10 a.m. under the Custom House's tent.
