You could go to the Northeast Fishing and Hunting Show, taking place this weekend at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, for the over 50 hours of seminars by expert fishermen and hunters. Or you could attend for the casting demonstrations, fly-tying center or kid-related activities. There's art, made out of wood, antlers, stone, clay and bronze. There's also a considerable amount of taxidermy — a practice that's just dying for a Brooklyn hipster-style revival — to gawk at. Point is: if you hunt or fish (and plenty people here in Connecticut do both), you'll likely walk away from the weekend with helpful tips on nabbing that 10-point buck, and/or whatever the equivalent fish would be.
