You don't need a holiday in honor of the great outdoors just do go for a hike, but it sure is a good excuse to do so. Saturday is both National and Connecticut Trails Day, and Weir Farm is hosting a three-mile guided morning walk through the scenic wetlands, mountain laurel groves and rocky ledges on their grounds. Bring a bottle of water and some sturdy walking shoes, and that's really all you need. It's free, but make sure to call and register so you can get the exact location of the hike's starting point.
