The Globetrotters: Not from Harlem. (Promotional Photo / February 20, 2013) |
The Harlem Globetrotters are a strange phenomenon, when you really think about it. They're a theatrical, comedic exhibition baskeball team named after Harlem but hailing from Chicago. But before the NBA became interesting in the 1950s, they would play legitimate games and were considered one of the best teams in the country. And even in recent years, they sometimes play straight-up games against real modern teams without any theatrics, and sometimes, though not very often, they even lose. See them show off their well-honed moves Friday at the Webster Bank Arena, and while we can't guarantee a win, the odds are certainly leaning that way.
