The Hartford Public Library's new Center for Contemporary Culture theater room will soon play host to a free showing of short films, each the work of local Connecticut filmmaker during the "Up Next" Film Series. The showing will last from 6 to 8 PM, and admission is free
The festival will encompass three short films: Antifaz by Pedro Bermudez, a short thesis film from the director's work at the American Film Institute set during critical political events in 1956 Argentina (pictured); Royal Comics by Helder Mira, a pilot episode of a proposed comedy series following employees who work a local comic-book publisher; and The Book and the Rose by Jeff Bemiss, which made it to the semifinals in the category of best live action short in the 2003 Oscars.
