The labels on the bottles of red wine crafted by Black Rock Vintners depict the Fayerweather Lighthouse, which stands at the mouth of Black Rock harbor. The company's white wines carry a more modern drawing of the landmark lighthouse, visible across the waters off the tony neighborhood near St. Mary's by the Sea.

Family Farm Fridays Begin This Week at Stamford Museum & Nature Center

Eating local is a trendy thing now, which is awesome on many levels. The Stamford Museum& Nature Center is helping to educate the public in such matters with a series of four cooking classes that utilize local ingredients. It's called Family Farm Fridays , and it begins this week with "Eggs & Chickens," during which you can visit the resident chickens at the nature center and collect their eggs. Next week, guests will make fresh butter and strawberry jam to take home.

Classic Works With a Modern Commentary at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich

Kathleen Gilje was trained as an art restorer, and she began her career working on the national collections at the Capodimonte Museum in Naples. In her exhibit Revised and Restored which is currently open at the Bruce Museum, she used her skills to reconfigure some classic works with a modern commentary, inserting anachronistic details into them and making them contemporary. It's a technically-skilled achievement, and the final product is strangely juxtaposed, satirically-charged and often kind of funny. But the message contained within each piece, be it political, economic or women's rights oriented, is often quite serious.

Every month has some kind of national food designation attached to it. And it seems like every day is national cheese-covered something day, or blank-on-a-bun day. As we gear up for the unofficial start of summer and grilling season, we celebrate National Burger Day on May 28. But May also happens to be National Egg Month. Eggs and ground beef don't commingle constructively in many cases, but where they really shine is at their simplest: A fried egg laid on top of a ground beef patty.

Saturday Night Live has launched the careers of countless comedians. Now, three of them will return to the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on May 25. Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller, and Kevin Nealon will each take the stage and perform stand-up routines. Dana Carvey has played memorable characters like Hans of Hans and Franz fame and Garth of Wayne's World. Dennis Miller has hosted a syndicated radio show since 2007. Kevin Nealon (pictured) won an Emmy Award nomination as part of Saturday Night Live's team of writers, and has acted in numerous blockbuster comedy films.

"Northern Moods: Paintings of Nova Scotia" at The Gallery at Firehouse Square

The Gallery at Firehouse Square presents Northern Moods: Paintings of Nova Scotia , which is up through May 25. The exhibition features the work of New York artist Peter Devine, an acclaimed landscape painter. Devine, who has his roots in Connecticut, drew inspiration from American abstract-expressionists, artists whose work would prove a touchstone for him as he continued to paint. His current work fuses what Devine considers the fundamental energy of abstraction with the raw landscapes outside his studio in Nova Scotia.
