Balanced Fitness's most popular program, says owner Mubarakah Ibrahim, is their signature fitness boot camp, which focuses on personal training and fitness for women, taking into account the physiological and mental differences that separate women from their male workout counterparts. "Women feel like they they can focus on their workout, not what they look like," said Ibrahim. "Women work out better socially." The boot camp runs year-round in both New Haven and West Haven, indoors when it's cold and dark and outdoors in the summertime. And with three trainers in Balanced Fitness's open, 2,000 square foot studio, health-conscious women also get to take part in specialized activities, including a skinny jean fashion show and a girls' day at the spa, designed to foster a sense of community. "We tweaked our regular program with a metabolic reconditioning diet, added with special exercises," Ibrahim says. "Women are literally losing a pound a day."
