It's the perfect storm: an increase in value of pure gold and a bad economy. These days, more and more people are looking to cash in on their stash, or perhaps to invest in something they believe is a safe bet. Naturally, they head to Libero. "We explain the carat weight, price per ounce, and test everything in front of the customer," says Michael Libero Jr., who runs the shop along with his dad, Michael Sr., mom Patty and sister Ashley. "We spend a little extra time with them." For the Liberos, the best thing for business is a straightforward, honest approach with customers. "People appreciate the honesty," says Michael Sr. "We'd rather have a quarter of the pie than the whole pie."
