1) Lucibello's Italian Pastry Shop
This classic Italian bakery is heaven for pastry purists. Lucibello's has sat still in time on the corner of New Haven's Olive and Grand Streets for 80 years, and it's held this title for the last dozen. Second-generation owner Peter Faggio says, "We don't introduce new things. We have the same cannoli, rum cakes and cream cakes we've had for years. No sprinkles. No marble cakes." This is exactly what people treasure about the bakery. "People want what they remember from their childhood and it's what they want to introduce their children to. People are possessive about what they remember," said Faggio, who has been running the business for 20 years after receiving a finance degree and returning after his dad passed away.lucibellospastry.com
