O'Toole's Irish Pub and Restaurant: Colin O'Toole. (April 30, 2012) |
1) O'Toole's Irish Pub
Jumping in the New Haven restaurant scene as a newbie, you'd think it'd be hard to make a considerable splash. But Colin O'Toole, owner of O'Toole's Irish Pub & Restaurant, has established what has become a local favorite over the last year. Located in the burgeoning community of Pitkin Plaza in the shadow of 360 State St., O'Toole's is in a great spot to attract local workers and lure in passersby. "We thought it was a really upcoming area with Bru Café, Devils Gear, Mediterranea and everything taking off there," says O'Toole. The cuisine is a combination of Irish staples, like shepherd's pie and fish and chips, and more familiar options, like panini, steak and stew, "for those not used to just Irish food," says O'Toole. For summer, they'll be serving up some salads on the patio, a new addition just in time for the warmer weather.
