Irish pubs and restaurants tend to both capitalize on and subvert some of the expectations people have about the Emerald Isle. Ireland: Guinness, corned beef, fish and chips, etc. All true, to an extent, though Shane Carty, the head chef at Anna Leffeys, likes to point out that he -- a Dubliner -- never had corned beef until he came to the States. So it's probably best to stow away your preconceptions about Irish food when you visit this 17-year-old establishment, where you'll find a mean Irish breakfast as well as a pretty festive spot to watch soccer. A fine pint, too. They may have the best curry fries in the area (and just because few other places have this Irish favorite -- sort of like a less over-the-top Celtic poutine -- doesnt mean that you shouldnt go down and try some). You'll also find beer-batter fish and chips, and a lobster dish made with Jameson whiskey. Another hearty Irish delicacy is their black pudding: mmmmmmm.
