Dakota's Steakhouse: Joseph K. Smith, Joy LoSchiano and Jason Carson. (April 3, 2012) |
1) Dakota Steakhouse
Some 500 famished folk roam this all-you-can-eat smorgasbord, a long-time favorite of Advocate readers, each Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The staggering selection of brunch favorites and more will sate any appetite: eggs and omelets; home fries; bacon and sausage; smoke-cured fish; carvery stations; Belgian waffles; cheeses and deli meats; bagels, breads, muffins and pastries; a salad bar and freshly cut fruit; cakes, pies and candy; coffee and soft drinks. Mimosas and Bloody Marys (homemade) are merely $3. The management is amenable to opening the doors a few minutes early (when possible) to a well-behaved line snaking outside. Staff are wired with walky-talkies in order to clear tables in a jiffy and seat diners quickly. Reservations are strongly suggested.
