1) Paradise Pizza Restaurant
Thirty-four years of making great pizza: that’s gotta make locals sit up, take notice and head to Paradise Pizza Restaurant, this year’s winner for Best Pizza Place in New Britain, for a slice or two. “I think a lot has to do with the fact that it’s a freshly made pizza every day,” says owner Charlie Kittleman. “It’s a family atmosphere, very casual, and we’ve been around for 30 years, so we like to think we know what we are doing.” Paradise has a full dinner menu, including favorites like prime rib, baked stuffed shrimp and a full pasta assortment. In coming weeks, be on the lookout for a value lunch menu and a 2-for-$20 deal or two. But head there anytime for a vegetable pizza with freshly made eggplant. “We do it a little different,” Kittleman says. “”We cook the pizza and add the olives, onions and other things later, sprinkled with blue cheese.”
