1) George's Pizza
They’ve already got the pizza category nailed down -- having won both the local Farmington Valley award and the best overall -- so you have to figure that George’s could take this category based on the strength of their pies alone. But there’s a lot more. The Psaras family prides itself on service, fresh food and creating a welcoming atmosphere. “We’re there day and night,” says mom Aspi. And while the steady hours might make the kitchen a second residence to them, they want customers to feel that way about the dining room as well. “When you’re at George’s, you’re at home,” says dad Mike. Son George points out that the kitchen knows how to satisfy the crowds. “We’ve got a huge menu,” says George. “Say you’ve got the pickiest kids in the world, we can find something for you.” Check out Aspi’s hummus, the eggplant parm and Greek salads. Take-out is huge, too. “We’ll pack up a meal for your whole family,” says George.
