1) Black-eyed Sally's BBQ & Blues
Since day one of their 17-year existence, Black-eyed Sally’s has been synonymous with the blues, with slews of national acts and local stars turning up to play several nights a week. “We mix it up,” owner James Varano said. “Not everyone likes the same kind of stuff. A lot of people like guitar rock, so we do that. There’s always a dance floor. No matter what kind of music we play, there aren't a lot of places where you can go have a nice meal with nice people and then do some dancing.” Along with their signature Black-eyed and Blues Festival, another ever-popular Black-Eyed event is their annual Mother’s Day Gospel Brunch in May, which they’ve been doing for years. “It’s a full-on southern buffet with gospel,” Varano said. “We usually sell out two seatings every year.”
