1) Thomas Hooker Brewing Company
It’s somehow fitting that Hartford’s Puritan founder Thomas Hooker has his own brewery named after him. We’re not so sure he’s thrilled with the honor in the afterlife, but we here are still stoked about the Thomas Hooker Brewery’s clever craft beer creations, including everything from a fruity seasonal watermelon beer to a holiday-themed chocolate brew. The brewery has great tasting events in addition to an admirable record of working with local businesses (check out Hooker’s collaboration with Munson’s). Lisa Bieliawski, the director of sales, says "People love the events on the first and third Fridays of every month -- from 5 to 8 -- it's $10 for a tour and tastings, also we're open every Saturday for tours and tastings from 10 to 5.” We may have puritanical blue laws here, but at least we’ve got puritan-themed beer to match.
