1) Yoga For Everybody

There’s a palpable excitement about all that’s happening at Yoga for Everybody. New for 2012, the downtown Fairfield studio is developing programs for specialized yoga teacher training. It’s also forging on with its non-profit cooperative, which offers classes in communities that otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to benefit from the ancient practice. And while the studio itself has morphed during its ten-year existence, the staff still keeps the personal touch with hundreds of customers who enjoy a multitude of classes at the studio and, in the summer time, at Fairfield’s beaches. “You come in and everybody knows your name,” says general manager Jennifer Jennings. “Not only that, we know your dog’s name.” Classes are offered for the “truly, truly beginner” to the advanced, says Jennings. To boot, there’s yoga, pre-natal and “baby and me” yoga sessions, which makes for a varied bunch of customers. “It’s not just stay-at-home moms,” says Kerri Gawreluk, one of some 20 teachers at the studio. “It’s very diverse.”
